RTK-Solar repelled a cascade of DDoS attacks on the online broadcast of the Russia-Africa Forum

The RTK-Solar cybersecurity company repelled a whole cascade of DDoS attacks of various types on the online broadcast of the Russia-Africa forum, the most capacious of them at the peak reached more than 200 thousand requests per second and thus entered the top 10 most powerful this year, said the head of the company, Igor Lyapunov.
“Following SPIEF 2023, we provided counteraction to cyberattacks at the Russia-Africa forum… we survived by repelling a whole cascade of DDoS attacks of various types on online broadcasts. The most capacious of them were aimed at the application level and reached more than 200 thousand requests per second. Thus, DDoS attacks on the Russia-Africa forum entered the top 10 most powerful this year and were comparable to the largest attacks on the State Services portal,” Lyapunov said, quoted by the company’s press service. .
According to him, the main priority was the protection of online services and broadcasts of the event, which were a continuous stream throughout the two days of the forum, including two sessions with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The choice of possible protective measures was complicated by the fact that we had to guarantee the availability of the broadcast throughout the globe, that is, we could not block malicious traffic based on a geographical feature. As a result, the attackers brought down the full power of international botnets on the forum’s resources,” Lyapunov added.
The second summit and economic and humanitarian forum “Russia-Africa” was held on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg. RIA Novosti is the media partner of the event.
