Daily Mail: Brentford striker Tony pleads guilty to betting violations

Forward of the club of the English Premier League (EPL) Brentford Ivan Toney pleaded guilty to several charges of the Football Association of England (FA) in the game on football bets. This is reported by the Daily Mail .

According to the publication, in November, the athlete was charged with 232 violations of FA gambling laws between 2017 and 2021. In December, the Football Association of England included 30 more cases from 2017 to 2019 in the case.

Tony admitted to several violations, while denying some of the other charges. It is expected that the player will be suspended at least until the end of the current season.

The 26-year-old Englishman played for Newcastle, Wigan, Scunthorpe and Peterborough during the period of potential violations. It is noted that he did not bet against his teams. In the autumn of 2020, he moved to Brentford, who won the right to play in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season.

In 23 matches of the current season of the championship of England, Toni chalked up 14 goals and three assists. He is tied for third on the tournament’s top scorer list with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford .

Earlier it was reported that the police detained a Tottenham fan after the match with Chelsea for homophobic chants.
