Russia received a record harvest of fruits and berries in 2022

Russia in 2022 received a record harvest of fruits and berries – more than 1.5 million tons, and by 2030 it may exceed 2.4 million tons, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation said.

“Last year, Russia received a record harvest of fruits and berries – more than 1.5 million tons in the organized sector,” the report says. According to the ministry, by 2027 the organized sector will produce about 2 million tons of fruit and berry products by improving tools and increasing the volume of support, and by 2030 the figure will exceed 2.4 million tons.

The Ministry notes that since 2013, the volume of production of fruits and berries in the commodity sector has increased by 2.3 times: during this period, about 140,000 hectares of perennial fruit and berry plantations, including nurseries, have been planted, of which 66% are intensive gardens. In addition, the production of planting material increased significantly: for example, in 2022 the figure was 37 million pieces, which is 18.6% higher than the average level for the previous three years.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to amend the rules of the “stimulating” subsidy, which will allow providing support for the establishment and care of perennial plantations of pome and stone fruit crops, provided that Russian-made planting material is used.

“The volume of state support for the sub-sector in recent years, only within the framework of the” stimulating “subsidy, has amounted to about 5 billion rubles annually. This year, funding has been increased by almost 1.5 times, to 7.33 billion rubles,” the report says.
