Doctors have revealed the duration of immunity after coronavirus

An international team of doctors from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (an independent international organization specializing in health research) conducted a study and found that in patients who were previously infected with SARS-CoV-2, the risk of hospitalization or death from COVID-19 is reduced by 88% within ten months. The results of the study were published in the Lancet .
As part of the work, scientists analyzed 65 papers on the topic of COVID-19, conducted in 19 countries. As it turned out, protection against re-infection with pre-omicron strains was 85% within one month and decreased to about 79% after ten months. Omicron protection was initially lower and declined faster to 36% after about ten months. Moreover, if the patient had a severe disease, then the protection was higher: 90% for alpha and delta strains and 88% for omicron.
Previously, scientists from Columbia University found that COVID-19 infection can cause changes in the calcium channels of heart cells, which leads to disruption of its work.
