
On the night of Saturday, February 18, a powerful flare occurred on the Sun. About what happened with reference to the Laboratory of X-ray Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISTP) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences RIA Novosti reports .
According to the schedule presented on the website of the Laboratory of X-ray Astronomy of the IKI RAS, a strong flare (class X) was recorded before midnight (Moscow time). A powerful flare was preceded by several weak flares (class C).
“There were no class C or higher solar flares,” the organization’s website says about solar flares on February 18.
