When TikTok announced the data center plans on Friday, it also disclosed that the company has 125 million monthly active users in the European Union. Under the bloc’s new Digital Services Act, the 27-member bloc requires online platforms to report user totals by Friday. The largest companies, with more than 45 million users, must meet additional requirements to reduce the risk of harm on the platform, according to the EU.
TikTok says it has 150 million monthly active users across Europe if you include non-EU countries such as the U.K. and Switzerland.
