Russian scientists have created a substance that eliminates offshore oil spills

Chemists from the Russian MIPT have developed a drug that disperses oil slicks on water and processes them with the help of natural microorganisms – it is called a dispersant, and the areas of its application are called temperate latitudes.
This substance, which has no domestic analogues in terms of readiness to appear on the market, is intended for the prompt elimination of existing oil spills or joint use with mechanical methods for collecting such “spots”.
The new development is effective at water temperatures from 10°C to 30°C with a salt content of no more than 30%, and the MIPT engineering center, whose specialists were engaged in this work, has already received all the necessary patent documentation and is awaiting permits for its use.
