The number of hacker attacks on banks continues to grow in Russia

The head of the Bank of Russia Nabiullina: the number of cyber attacks on the financial system of the Russian Federation continues to grow

The number of cyber incidents in the Russian financial system continues to grow, and the tipping point in the fight against them has not yet been reached. This is reported by TASS, referring to the words of the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (CB) Elvira Nabiullina.

“What you can see from the numbers is that the number of attacks is growing and this trend will continue. The amount of damage is growing, but not at the same rate as the number of attacks, the success of attacks is falling, ”said Nabiullina , speaking at the Cybersecurity in Finance forum.

At the same time, according to her, there are results in the fight against cyber attacks. It is expressed at least in the fact that the Central Bank managed to prevent the explosive growth of incidents. At the same time, Nabiullina believes that it is too early to talk about a turning point.

“I do not agree with my colleagues here that it is an illusion that a turning point will occur. We have to get it,” she said.

According to Nabiullina, fraudsters remain the main cyber threat to the Russian financial sector. According to her, over the year, the “share” of fraudulent attacks in relation to non-cash transactions has decreased, but the technology of social engineering continues to dominate.

Earlier, Gazeta.Ru wrote that Russians are threatened by a new fraud scheme using ChatGPT.
