Stiftung Warentest has already tested over 350 smartphones. Current models are tested again and again, which is noticeable in the ranking. Read here who the current smartphone test winner is. Stiftung Warentest tested a total of 21 newer smartphones in the 12/2022 issue . This shows that not a single one can score with the top rating "very good". On the other hand, 16 smartphones do "good", five more are only "satisfactory". Stiftung Warentest put the smartphones through their paces. In addition to the basic functions, camera, display, handling and battery, the stability of the devices was also evaluated. For this purpose, the smartphones were subjected to drop tests, scratch tests, if necessary folding tests as well as rain and immersion tests. The phone is sprinkled with one millimeter of water per minute for five minutes. In addition, devices declared by the manufacturer as waterproof (IPX7 or higher) are subjected to a submersion test according to the specified degree of protection. The result shows that the vast majority of smartphones can survive a rain shower without any problems. The 21 models in the test all coped with the rain test "good" or "very good". In the overall rating, the water resistance, together with a drop and scratch test as a stability rating, only accounts for 5 percent. Basic functions (30 percent), camera (20 percent) and display, handling and battery (15 percent each) are much more important. iPhone 14 Pro (Max): Test winner smartphone at Stiftung Warentest With the overall rating "good" and a grade of 1.6, two smartphones take the lead: the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and the larger Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max.
