Yamaha Motor establishes new company in Singapore for robot business

Yamaha Motor announced on June 6 that it has established a new company in Singapore for the business of surface mounters that mount industrial robots and electronic components on substrates. An office will be set up locally and operations will begin in July. So far, we have covered this through distributors, but due to growing demand in Southeast Asia and India, we will directly engage in customer development and after-sales service. We will also work to support agents and expand our network.

The new company “Yamaha Robotics Solutions Asia” completed its registration on January 13th. Yamaha Motor invested all of the capital of 200 million yen. As of July, the company will have 10 employees, three of whom will be expatriates from Yamaha Motor in Japan, and the rest will be hired locally.

Singapore has a concentration of customer companies, distributors, and competitors for industrial robots and surface mounters. By setting up sales bases as a manufacturer, we will capture trends such as the shift of production bases to Southeast Asia and India. Yamaha Motor positions robotics as a strategic business area in its medium-term management plan and is accelerating expansion.
