The expert told how to choose a protective glass for the gadget

MOSCOW, February 4 – RIA Novosti. The most convenient glass for a gadget is 3D, it is difficult to accidentally hook or peel it off, it completely covers the smartphone display, while the edges of 2D and 2.5D glasses are not polished, Vladlen, head of the accessories and portable equipment department at MegaFon, told RIA Novosti Zabelsky.
“High-quality protective glass has perfectly processed smooth edges and is always uniform in structure – without air bubbles, streaks and cloudy areas inside. The most practical and easy-to-use 3D glass, they cover the smartphone display completely, it is difficult to accidentally hook or peel them off. 2D and 2.5D edges are not polished,” the expert noted.
According to him, it is also worth considering that, unlike a film that protects the screen from scratches, glass will save the smartphone display from shock or strong mechanical impact. Zabelsky recalled that glasses are made taking into account the characteristics of a particular smartphone model – the manufacturer takes into account the shape of the display, size, rounded edges, the location of the speakers and the number of holes. “Of course, you can choose universal glass, but it will be less effective,” the expert added.
He also said that the strength of glass is evaluated on a 10-point Mohs scale, which determines the degree of surface resistance to scratches, cracks and chips. So, manufacturers indicate the strength of glass with the indicator “H” – hardness (strength, rigidity). “Today, glasses with a strength level of 9H are most common. Such glasses reliably protect smartphones when they fall, and are also resistant to scratches,” the expert explained.
“The optimal glass thickness is from 0.3 to 0.5 mm. Users who tend to drop their smartphone often, as well as children who are still learning to take care of their gadgets, will use tempered glass with a thickness of 0.5 to 1 mm and a strength of 9H . Products with such characteristics effectively protect the display even when dropped,” concluded Zabelsky.
He added that the glass should be changed periodically: when air bubbles formed on the screen, a network of cracks appeared, the corners began to peel off, or the sensitivity of the sensor decreased.
